Road tripping

By the time you read this I'll be on the road. Stuffed into a car heading west with a bagful of weird diet snacks and sunnies just in case... well, we can hope.
The driver (my sister) whisks us to Dad's cottage in Cornwall once a year for a weekend, just to get a whip of sea air. This time we're going for a little longer. We've packed our offices, our kitchens (because we're both on weird food regimes), and my sister's cat, the very majestic Fluffer.
We hope TheFluffer enjoys the playlist I've put together for our journey. Sharing the playlist here was a decision inspired by the rather clever Siobhan Fox, who shared her own motivation playlist last week via newsletter. Siobhan’s playlist was for motivation. Mine tend to be eclectic, themed with basic titles like 'Running' or 'Chilling', and I can never please everyone. There's always someone listening intently with head tilted and eyebrow raised.
This time I knew I had to make it work for TheDriver, who has same-same- but-different tastes. Cast an eye down the tracks and you'll see they are retro, swingy, 60/70s/80s with a tiny bit of 90s and noughties, a touch of d.i.s.c.o. and a smidge of ska.
TheDriver has added a few tunes towards the bottom of the list, and I know she’ll be happy to see I didn’t add any current stuff, not much pop, no classical, no wailing folk, no Red Hot Chillies, Nirvana, Wet Leg, no Ibiza, and not much indie. The list of non-inclusions should give you an idea of the other stuff I like, which for now will remain mute, waiting for the next time I turn my own speaker up high.
Off we go, then. Waving from my window seat with a full tank of gas, a noisy cat, Dad at the other end and 300 miles before the mix tape runs out. See you soon, Pa.
